Stop, Drop, and Pray: Individual Worth

Wonderful Christine has ignited our Young Women with a Personal Progress fire. Here she is signing their books which they have been working diligently for the last several weeks.

Christine gave the lesson today on Individual Worth.

A little into the lesson, she handed out a story about a camping trip in Virginia gone awry.  I thought at first that it was a wonderful story from the manual; in a nutshell, the young people's campfire jumped from their fire pit, and fell upon a tree which burst into flames: it was followed by all of the trees around them, despite their best efforts. When hope was lost they knelt to pray, and the fire stopped, "as sudden as it started".

It was a miracle.  It was from God.  The story was a true story from Christine's journal.  With tears in her eyes, she told us it showed her that Heavenly Father was aware of her: Individual Worth.

At the end of the story, she mentioned passingly that if she would have prayed first, the fire would have been out sooner.  I thought in my life, sometimes I pray after I have been working desperately.  Then, in the moment of defeat, I pray.  I should have taken Christine's advice: stop, drop, and pray (okay, she did not say that in so many words, but that is what I wrote).
